Agrifence 12V Rechargeable Leisure Battery

A deep cycle wet lead-acid leisure battery, supplied to run 12V electric fence energisers — Agrifence's Dual Power range and the 12v Secur energisers among them. Agrifence quote up to 75 days of charge, which for most paddock setups means recharging a handful of times a year rather than every few weeks.

Leisure batteries differ from car batteries in what they are asked to do. A starter battery gives a huge current for two seconds and is then topped straight back up; a leisure battery is built to give a small current for weeks and be run down and recharged repeatedly without losing capacity. That slow, deep discharge is exactly what an energiser asks for.

Performance & Benefits
  • 12V deep cycle wet lead-acid construction, built for repeated deep discharge and recharge.
  • Up to 75 days of charge, Agrifence's own figure.
  • Runs Agrifence Dual Power energisers and the 12v Secur range.
  • Rechargeable from the mains with a suitable 12V charger, so there is no consumable cost.
  • Steady, slow discharge holds fence voltage up rather than tailing off sharply.
<>
Suitable For
  • 12V energisers, including the Agrifence Eco Dual Power DP1205E and DP1210E.
  • Paddocks and fence lines out of reach of a mains socket.
  • Owners who would rather recharge than keep buying dry batteries.
  • Pairing with a solar panel for a setup that tops itself up through the summer.
  • Not the battery for a 9V energiser such as the Easystop 500 — that takes an Agrifence 9V Dry Battery 90Ah, or a 9–12V adaptor lead if you want to run it from 12V.
<>
How to Use
  • Charge the battery fully before first use, with a 12V charger in a ventilated space.
  • Connect the energiser's battery leads red to positive and black or green to negative.
  • Stand the battery upright and level, clear of standing water — a battery box is worth having.
  • Recharge before the battery is flat rather than after; deep cycle cells last longest when they are not left discharged.
  • Clean any white crust off the terminals and smear them lightly with petroleum jelly.

Care & Caution
  • This is a wet lead-acid battery containing sulphuric acid. Keep it upright, and rinse any spill from skin or clothing with plenty of water.
  • Charge in a ventilated space. Lead-acid batteries give off hydrogen while charging — no naked flames or smoking nearby.
  • Never short the terminals with a spanner or a metal object; the current available is enough to weld.
  • Do not put a lead-acid battery in household waste. Take it to a battery recycling point or return it to a retailer that accepts them.
