Agrifence 9-12V Adaptor Leads with Spring Clips

A 9V energiser runs from a dry battery that has to be replaced when it dies. These leads let the same energiser run instead from a 12V rechargeable battery, which is cheaper over a season, longer-lasting between visits, and a good deal less annoying on a paddock at the far end of the farm.

The ends are spring clips rather than crocodile clips, and Agrifence are specific about why: they fit easily and securely to a pillar-type battery terminal, which is the post you find on a leisure or starter battery. That grip is what stops a vibration or a knock dropping the fence without anyone noticing.

Performance & Benefits
  • Lets a 9V energiser run from a 12V rechargeable battery.
  • Spring clip ends, which fit easily and securely to pillar-type battery terminals.
  • Removes the running cost of replacing 9V dry batteries through a season.
  • Longer intervals between visits to a remote energiser.
  • A secure terminal grip, so a knock does not quietly kill the fence.
  • A direct Agrifence accessory rather than a generic lead.
<>
Suitable For
  • 9V energisers being converted to rechargeable power.
  • Remote paddocks where changing a dry battery is a trip in itself.
  • Temporary and mobile fencing setups.
  • Owners already running a 12V leisure battery on the yard.
  • Not an adaptor for mains operation — a mains-powered energiser needs Agrifence's own mains adaptor for its model.
<>
How to Use
  • Switch the energiser off before connecting or disconnecting anything.
  • Fit the positive clip to the battery's positive pillar first, then the negative.
  • Connect the lead to the energiser last, and switch on.
  • Reverse the order when disconnecting: energiser off, negative clip, then positive.
  • Keep the battery upright, off bare ground, and out of the weather.

Specification
  • 9V energiser to 12V rechargeable battery adaptor leads.
  • Spring clip terminals, sized for pillar-type battery posts.
  • Agrifence product code H4938. Barcode 5052150001098.
  • Agrifence publish no cable length, conductor size, weatherproofing rating or battery capacity range for these leads. An IP65 rating and a 7–100Ah battery range appear on some retail listings; neither is Agrifence's, and neither is stated here.

Care & Caution
  • Connect positive to positive and negative to negative. Reversing the polarity can damage the energiser.
  • Never let the two clips touch each other or any metalwork while they are on the battery — a lead-acid battery will deliver enough current through a short to melt the lead.
  • Charge lead-acid batteries in a ventilated space, away from the stable and from any naked flame.
  • Switch the energiser off before touching either end of the lead.
  • Inspect the insulation each season and replace the leads if it is cut or perished.
