A single 9-volt dry battery of 130 amp-hours, Agrifence code H4722. This is the large non-rechargeable cell that the Secur range of energisers is built around — Agrifence list it against the Secur 15, Secur 25, Secur 35 and Secur 60.

130Ah is a lot of capacity, and it is bought for one reason: a fence in a field with no power, checked once a season rather than once a week. There is no charger, no leisure battery to swap and no solar panel to keep clean. When it is done, it is replaced.

How to Use

• Switch the energiser off before connecting or disconnecting the battery.
• Match the terminals to the leads: live to the positive post, earth to the negative.
• Sit the battery level and dry in the energiser housing or a weatherproof box.
• Check fence voltage with a tester on each fence walk. Output drops off gradually rather than stopping suddenly.
• Note the fitting date somewhere — capacity is used up over months, not measured on a gauge.

Care & Caution

• Do not attempt to recharge a dry battery. Charging one can make it leak, vent or burst.
• Do not short the terminals together or let tools bridge them. A 130Ah cell can deliver a substantial current into a short.
• Keep away from children and animals, and keep it out of a stable where it could be knocked over.
• Do not incinerate. Take spent batteries to a battery recycling point.
