Agrifence Easystop P250 9V Energiser

The Easystop P250 is a 9V battery energiser built around a dry battery housed inside the unit, so there is no mains lead, no charger and nothing to trip over. It is the sort of energiser bought for a strip grazing line, a paddock divide or a small field boundary — jobs where the fence needs to move with the grazing rather than stay put all year.

Because the battery sits inside the case, siting is simple: the unit goes where the fence starts, on a post or an earth stake, and the only other things it needs are a driven earth rod and a good earth lead. Agrifence have since replaced this model in their catalogue with the Easystop 500.

Suitable For

• A 12V leisure battery cannot be housed inside the unit. Agrifence's 9–12V Adaptor Lead, code H4938, is the part that lets a 9V energiser run from an external 12V rechargeable battery.
• Not the energiser for a long perimeter or a line running through heavy vegetation — the Agrifence Eco Dual Power DP1210E, at 2 joules stored, is the better choice there.

How to Use

• Fit a fresh 9V dry battery in the housing, observing polarity.
• Drive an earth rod its full length into damp ground and connect it to the energiser's earth terminal.
• Connect the fence output to the conductor with a proper fence lead rather than a twisted joint.
• Check the line with a fence tester after setting up, and again weekly.
• Remove the battery if the unit is to stand unused over winter.

• Agrifence no longer list the Easystop P250 on their own website and publish no current specification for it, so no joule rating or fence length is stated here. Figures of 0.25 joules and a product code of H4705 appear on retail listings; neither is confirmed by Agrifence.

• The store's earlier copy referred to a mains adapter, code H4939. Agrifence publish no H4939; the 9–12V adaptor lead is H4938 and it is a battery adaptor, not a mains adaptor.
• The current Agrifence 9V battery energiser is the Easystop 500, code H8010.

Care & Caution

• An energiser delivers a high voltage pulse. Switch it off and disconnect it at the fence before working on the line.
• Warning signs are a legal requirement every 50 metres where the fence runs alongside a public right of way. The Agrifence Electric Fence Warning Sign covers this.
• Never connect an energiser to barbed wire. An animal caught on an electrified barb cannot get free.
• Use only one energiser per fence line, and keep the earth system well clear of any mains earth or buried services.
