Agrifence Eco Dual Power Energiser DP1205E

The DP1205E is the smallest of Agrifence's Eco Dual Power energisers, and dual power means exactly that: it runs from a 12V leisure battery or, with the supplied mains adaptor, straight off a socket. Agrifence rate it at 1.0 joule stored and 0.7 joules output, and quote 4,000 metres of fence in low vegetation or 1,500 metres in medium.

The Eco part is the battery saving. Agrifence say the eco mode can extend the life of a battery charge up to four times, which is the difference between carrying a leisure battery to the field every fortnight and doing it a few times a season. The unit is also solar compatible and carries a five year warranty.

Suitable For

• Horse paddocks, grazing areas and smallholdings.
• Fence runs up to 4,000m in low vegetation, or 1,500m in medium vegetation.
• Sites where mains is available now but may not be later, or the other way round.
• Agrifence do not rate the DP1205E for long vegetation at all. If your line runs through heavy growth, the DP1210E is rated for 1,500m in high vegetation.
• Not suitable for a 9V dry battery — this is a 12V unit and needs the Agrifence 12V Rechargeable Leisure Battery or a mains supply.

How to Use

• Mount the unit on the supplied earth stake and mount post, or on a fence post clear of the ground.
• Drive the earth stake fully into damp soil, well away from any mains earth or buried services.
• Connect the earth lead to the stake and the fence lead to the conductor.
• For battery running, connect the 12V battery leads red to positive and black to negative. For mains, fit the supplied adaptor instead.
• Select eco mode for normal running to get the quoted battery life.
• Test the fence with a voltmeter after setup and check it weekly.

Care & Caution

• This unit connects to a 230V mains supply through its adaptor. Use a suitable outdoor-rated socket and RCD protection, and keep the adaptor itself under cover.
• Switch the energiser off and disconnect it from the fence before working on the line.
• Warning signs are a legal requirement every 50 metres where the fence adjoins a public right of way.
• Never energise barbed wire — an animal caught on an electrified barb cannot free itself.
• Only one energiser per fence line, and keep the earth stake well clear of any mains earth.
