A complete gateway kit: one elasticated electric rope that stretches from 3 metres to 6 metres, a moulded insulated handle already fitted to it, and two gate anchor insulators to screw into the posts either side. Between them they turn a gap in an electric fence into a working gateway.

The elastic is what makes it practical. A rigid conductor across a gateway either sags into the mud or has to be tensioned every time it is closed; an elasticated rope takes up its own slack, so the gate stays off the ground whether the posts are 3 metres apart or 6. Agrifence build it for equestrian fencing, and the rope is highly visible for that reason.

How to Use

• Screw a gate anchor insulator into each gatepost at the height of the fence line.
• Hook the handle end onto one anchor and connect the rope's other end to the live fence conductor at the opposite anchor.
• Close the gateway by stretching the rope across and hooking the handle on; open it by unhooking at the handle only.
• Always take hold of the insulated handle, never the rope.
• Set the anchors so the rope is only lightly stretched when closed, not straining at full extension.

Care & Caution

• An elasticated rope under tension will recoil if it slips or lets go. Keep your face clear of the line when hooking and unhooking, and do not overstretch it beyond 6m.

• Replace the handle or the rope if the insulation is cracked or the elastic has perished.
