Agrifence Electric Fence Warning Sign

A warning sign for an electrified fence line. Agrifence are direct about why it exists: warning signs are a legal requirement every 50 metres on an electric fence where the public have right of way. This is not an optional accessory on such a line, it is part of putting the fence up correctly.

The requirement catches people out most often on a field that has a footpath running along one edge, or a paddock that fronts a lane. If a member of the public can walk beside your fence, the signs are needed — and the cost of a handful of them is trivial next to the position you are in if someone contacts an unmarked line.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Clear warning of an electrified fence to anyone approaching it.
  • Meets the requirement for signage every 50m where the public have right of way.
  • Made for permanent outdoor mounting on fence posts and gates.
  • Bright and legible at the distance a walker would first see the fence.
  • Inexpensive insurance on any line adjoining a path, lane or bridleway.
<>
Suitable For
  • Electric fence lines adjoining a public footpath, bridleway or road.
  • Paddocks and fields bounded by a lane or a shared access.
  • Gateways and stiles where someone might reach over or through the fence.
  • Yards and livery premises where visitors may not know which lines are live.
  • Not required on a fence entirely within private land with no public access — though a sign at the gate is still worth having where visitors come and go.
<>
How to Use
  • Fix a sign at intervals of no more than 50m along any stretch the public can reach.
  • Put one at every gateway, stile and access point regardless of spacing.
  • Mount at a height where an approaching adult sees it before reaching the fence.
  • Fix to a post or the fence itself; do not fix it in a way that shorts the conductor to a post.
  • Replace any sign that has faded or cracked to the point where the wording is not clear.
