Two D-cell alkaline batteries, supplied as Agrifence's replacement pack H4720. This is the pair that powers the Micro 3 and the DUO 6 energisers, and it is the only thing either unit runs on — there is no mains adaptor and no solar option on the Micro 3.

In a Micro 3 a fresh pair gives roughly thirty days of continuous work; Agrifence quote up to six weeks on the current Micro 3 battery energiser. Output falls away gradually rather than stopping dead, so a fence that has quietly dropped below 3,000 volts is usually flat batteries rather than a fault on the line.

How to Use

• Switch the energiser off before opening the battery compartment.
• Fit both cells the same way round as the moulded diagram inside the housing.
• Change both together. Mixing a fresh cell with a part-used one shortens the life of the pair.
• Check fence voltage with a tester after fitting rather than assuming the fence is live.
• Take the cells out if the energiser is being stored over winter.
