Agrifence Megaline 2 Superior Polywire – 2.5mm White, 250m

Megaline 2 is Agrifence's high-conductivity polywire: 2.5mm white line on a 250m roll, carrying large 0.5mm galvanised steel wires rather than the hair-fine filaments used in economy polywire. Agrifence rate it at over twenty times more conductive than their Easyline.

The other half of the design is how those wires are wound. Instead of running buried inside the plastic weave, they cross over on the outside of the line, so an animal touching the wire touches steel rather than polyethylene. On a long run that combination is what keeps the far end of the fence at a voltage that actually means something.

Suitable For

• Long fence runs where voltage drop along the line is the limiting factor.
• Cattle, sheep and pigs on strip-grazed or block-grazed ground.
• Temporary and semi-permanent internal divisions.
• Fences run off a modest energiser that needs all the help it can get.
• Not the first choice for horses, which need a wider, more visible line — Agrifence Megatape at 12mm, 20mm or 40mm is the safer conductor for a horse paddock.

How to Use

• Run the line through ring insulators rather than tying it off at each post.
• Tension it enough to stay clear of vegetation, but not so hard that the steel strands stretch and break.
• Join lengths with a proper conductive joiner such as the Agrifence Polywire Joiner — a knot in polywire is a high-resistance joint and will lose you voltage.
• Bond multiple strands together with a line connector every few hundred metres.
• Wind it back onto a reel for storage rather than coiling it loose.

Care & Caution

• Never connect an energiser to barbed wire, and never run an electrified line where an animal could become trapped against barbed wire. It is unsafe and, in the UK, not permitted.
• Where an electrified fence runs alongside a public road, footpath or bridleway, fit warning signs at regular intervals so people know the line is live.
• Switch the energiser off before handling, joining or tensioning the line.
