Agrifence Megatape – White Reinforced 12mm x 200m
Megatape is the reinforced end of Agrifence's tape range, and 12mm is its narrowest width: a 200m roll of white polytape carrying 0.25mm copper-infused conductive wires. The copper is there for conductivity — copper carries a fence pulse far better than the stainless filaments used in budget tape.
The reinforcement is in the edges, which is where tape fails. A tape that has started to fray along one selvedge sheds filaments, loses conductivity strand by strand, and eventually parts in a gale. Reinforced edges are the difference between a fence you replace in three years and one you replace in ten.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 0.25mm copper-infused conductive wires — larger in diameter than standard tape filaments.
- Reinforced edges to resist fraying, which is where polytape normally fails first.
- 12mm width in white, visible to a horse at a distance and against a dark hedge.
- 200m roll, enough for a single line around a small paddock or a long internal division.
- Built for long-term temporary and semi-permanent work rather than a fortnight's use.
Suitable For
- Horse and pony paddocks, where the line must be seen as well as felt.
- Semi-permanent perimeters and small to medium field boundaries.
- Internal divisions left up through a season.
- Fences on wooden posts using tape insulators.
- Too narrow to be the most visible option for a nervous horse or a large open field — Agrifence Megatape is also made in 20mm and 40mm, and the wider tape is what a horse picks out at fifty metres.
How to Use
- Run the tape through tape insulators — the Agrifence HPX Tape Insulator takes anything to 40mm — rather than round a ring.
- Keep the tape flat and untwisted between posts; a folded tape only conducts on the exposed side.
- Join lengths with a tape buckle or clamp that grips the full width. Knotted tape loses most of its conductivity at the knot.
- Tension by hand to a firm line, not a drum-tight one; polytape stretches and needs slack to move in wind.
- Bond multiple lines together with a line to line connector so all strands sit at the same voltage.
Specification
- Agrifence product code H4756. Barcode 5052150001319.
- Width 12mm. Length 200m. Colour white.
- Conductors: 0.25mm copper-infused wires. Reinforced edges.
- Also made in 20mm x 200m (H4758), 20mm x 500m (H4759) and 40mm x 200m (H4760), plus green versions in 20mm and 40mm.
- Agrifence publish no filament count, resistance per metre or breaking strain for Megatape, so none of those figures are given here.
Care & Caution
- Never energise barbed wire, and do not run electrified tape where a horse could be pushed onto barbed wire behind it.
- Where the fence borders a road, footpath or bridleway, fit electric fence warning signs at intervals along the public side.
- Switch the energiser off before joining, tensioning or repairing the line.
- Check the tape after high winds. A tape that has broken and fallen across an earthed post will flatten the whole fence.
