The Paddock Pro is Agrifence's compact low-power mains energiser, for a short fence within reach of a socket. It stores 0.2 joules and delivers 0.12 joules to the line, which Agrifence rate at 1,500 metres of fence in low vegetation and 750 metres in medium. In long vegetation Agrifence rate it as not suitable, and that is worth taking at face value rather than hoping.

A mains energiser is the cheapest to run and the least trouble — no batteries to swap, no panel to keep clear, no seasonal drop-off in output. The trade is siting: the unit itself must be indoors, in a stable, barn or tack room, with the live and earth leads run out to the fence. Agrifence back it with a three-year warranty.

How to Use

• Mount the energiser indoors, on a wall or shelf, out of the weather.
• Drive the earth rod into moist ground at least 15m from any domestic or building earth.
• Connect the earth lead to the rod and the live lead to the fence line, both to the correct terminals, before plugging in.
• Plug into the mains and confirm the unit is pulsing.
• Test the fence voltage weekly with a tester and keep vegetation off the live line.

Care & Caution

• Mains energisers must be fitted indoors only, out of reach of children and stock, and connected through a correctly wired 3A fuse.
• Connect the fence and earth leads to their correct terminals before plugging into the mains — never the other way round.
• Never connect an energiser to barbed wire. It is dangerous to animals and is not a lawful electric fence in the UK.
• Unplug at the mains before working anywhere on the fence line.
