Agrifence Spring Gate Kit with Super Handle – H4878

This is everything needed to turn a gap in an electric fence into a working gateway: one Super gate handle, one galvanised gate spring that extends from 25cm to 5m, and two Super gate anchor insulators to take the ends. The spring does the work a taut wire cannot — it holds the gateway live and tight, then pulls itself back out of the way when the handle is unhooked.

A sprung gateway suits an opening that is used often and by more than one person, because there is no slack rope to trail and nothing to step over. The insulated Super handle is the part that matters for safety: it is what your hand is on while the line either side of it is carrying the pulse.

Performance & Benefits
  • Complete kit: 1 Super gate handle, 1 Super gate spring, 2 Super gate anchor insulators.
  • Galvanised steel spring extends from 25cm to 5m, covering most field and yard openings.
  • Spring retracts clear of the gateway when unhooked, so nothing lies on the ground.
  • Insulated Super handle keeps the hand off the live conductor when opening and closing.
  • Super gate anchors are screw-in insulators that carry the current across the gateway.
  • Galvanised and outdoor-rated throughout for a permanent installation.
<>
Suitable For
  • Gateways in permanent electric tape, rope or wire fencing.
  • Openings up to about 5m — field gates, yard entrances and paddock divisions.
  • Timber posts, which the gate anchors screw into.
  • Gateways used several times a day, where a loose rope gate would be a nuisance.
  • Too short for a wide drive-through opening — a longer run needs a dedicated drive-through gate system rather than a stretched spring.
<>
How to Use
  • Switch the energiser off before fitting anything to a live line.
  • Screw a Super gate anchor into the timber post on each side of the opening.
  • Connect the live fence line to the anchor on the supply side so current reaches the gateway.
  • Fix the spring to one anchor and the handle to the free end of the spring.
  • Set the spring so it is under gentle tension when closed and never stretched to its limit.
  • Always open and close by the insulated handle, never by grasping the spring.
<>
Specification
  • Agrifence product code H4878. Barcode 5052150002002.
  • Contents: 1 x Super gate handle, 1 x Super gate spring, 2 x Super gate anchor insulators.
  • Spring extends 25cm to 5m, galvanised steel.
  • Gate anchors are screw-in, for timber posts, with a steel loop connection.
  • Agrifence publish no spring wire gauge or working load, so neither is stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Do not stretch the spring beyond its 5m rated extension. An over-stretched steel spring can let go and recoil hard enough to injure.
  • Let the spring return under control when unhooking — do not release it under full tension.
  • Handle the gateway only by the insulated handle. The spring itself is live when the fence is on.
  • Where the gateway sits on a public right of way or road frontage, electric fence warning signs are a legal requirement in the UK.
