Barley that has been micronised — cooked with infrared heat and then rolled into flakes. Cooking gelatinises the starch, which makes it markedly more digestible than raw or simply rolled barley, so more of the energy is absorbed in the small intestine rather than passing to the hindgut where it can cause trouble.

It is a concentrated energy source useful for maintaining condition, and a versatile straight for anyone mixing their own ration.
