Ancol Chirping Owl Cat Toy – 13cm
The Chirping Owl is a 13cm soft toy built around a small sound chip that produces chirping prey calls when the toy is knocked about. For a cat that has learned to ignore a plain fabric mouse, the noise is what restarts interest — the toy answers back instead of the cat having to imagine the prey.
The body is deliberately inconsistent to the paw: plush fur over part of it, tougher canvas over the rest, so it reads as an animal rather than a uniformly fluffy cushion. It is light enough to be batted across a hard floor, carried upstairs and dropped down them again.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Chip-generated chirping calls trigger the whole stalk-and-pounce sequence, not just the chase.
- Multi-textured body of soft plush fur and heavier canvas, closer to the feel of real prey.
- 13cm — sized to be carried in the mouth and kicked with the back feet.
- Works for play you join in with as well as short solo bursts.
- Useful mental work for an indoor cat with no access to real hunting.
Suitable For
- Indoor cats that need something which reacts when they hit it.
- Cats that have gone off silent fabric mice.
- Supervised interactive play, and short solo play while you are in the room.
- Kittens through to adult cats.
- Not a dog toy — a dog will reach the sound unit quickly. The Ancol Playtime Chase Tough Rubber Ball is the durable option there.
How to Use
- Knock or shake the toy to set off the chirp, then let the cat take over.
- Drag it along the floor and behind furniture so the cat has something to stalk.
- Rotate it out of circulation every few days so the noise keeps its novelty.
- Put it away between sessions rather than leaving it out permanently.
Specification
- Length 13cm.
- Soft plush fur and canvas body with an internal sound chip.
- Ancol product code 913490.
- Part of Ancol's chirping bird range, alongside the Chirping Robin, Bullfinch and Greenfinch.
- Ancol publish no fabric composition, no filling detail and no battery or run-time figure for the sound unit, so none is stated here.
Care & Caution
- An interactive toy for supervised play. Do not leave it with a cat unattended.
- The toy contains an electronic sound unit. Take it away and dispose of it if the seams open or the unit becomes exposed — the components are a swallowing hazard.
- Check regularly for splitting fabric, shedding fur and detached parts.
- Not indestructible, and not intended as a chew toy.
