Ancol Heritage Deluxe Nylon Rope Slip Lead 150x1.2cm Dog Lead
Ancol Heritage Deluxe Rope Slip Lead – 150 x 1.2cm
A slip lead is a lead and a collar in one length of rope, and the Deluxe is the better-made version of the idea: a tight nylon weave over a premium base, which gives a rope that is noticeably softer in the hand than a cheap slip and does not go stiff and wiry after a wet winter. The joint where the loop forms is finished in leather rather than plastic.
It runs 150cm long and 1.2cm thick, and Ancol rate it for dogs up to 50kg. A keeper slides along the rope to hold the loop at the size you set, so the collar sits where you put it instead of dropping loose over the shoulders the moment the lead slackens. Ancol also list it as usable as a head collar. Ancol's colour for code 682100 is brown.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Tight nylon weave over a premium base, giving a softer rope than a standard slip lead.
- Leather joint finishing at the loop rather than a moulded plastic ring.
- Keeper slides to hold the loop at the size you set.
- 150cm of length — enough to work at arm's reach or let a dog range a little.
- Rated by Ancol for dogs up to 50kg.
- Weatherproof, flexible, and easy to wipe clean.
Suitable For
- Dogs up to 50kg that already walk without hauling on the lead.
- Getting a dog in and out of a car, a kennel or a vet's waiting room quickly.
- Gundog and countryside work, where one length of rope beats a lead plus collar.
- Handlers who want a head collar option from the same lead.
- Dogs that pull hard, and anyone who wants a lead that cannot tighten — a slip is the wrong tool. The Ancol Viva Padded Lead on a fitted collar, or the Ancol Viva Exercise & Travel Harness, spread the load instead of concentrating it on the throat.
How to Use
- Form the loop, pass it over the head, and slide the keeper down so the loop cannot open wider than the neck.
- Set the loop high on the neck, just behind the ears, rather than low at the base of the throat.
- Keep the lead slack in normal walking. A slip lead only tightens when it needs to.
- Wipe clean and hang up to dry after wet or muddy walks.
- Check the weave, the leather joint and the keeper for wear before each use.

Care & Caution
- A slip lead tightens under pressure and does not release itself. Never use one to tether or tie a dog, and never leave a dog unattended in one.
- Not suitable for a dog that pulls hard until that pulling has been trained out. Constant tension on the throat can do real damage.
- Set the keeper every time. Without it the loop can open far enough for a dog to back out, or close further than you intended.
- Keep the loop high behind the ears, not down on the windpipe.
- Not a lead to leave on a dog in a car or crate — a slip loop and a car harness do different jobs.
- Replace the lead if the weave frays, the leather joint splits, or the keeper stops gripping.
