The XLarge version of Ancol's oatmeal bowl holds 1620ml in a stainless steel dish that lifts out of an oatmeal-coloured outer surround. The surround stays put on its non-slip base while the steel goes to the sink or the dishwasher, so the part that touches food is the part that gets properly cleaned.

1620ml is a large-breed portion or most of a day's water for one dog, and steel is the sensible material at that size — it takes daily washing without staining, holding smells or scratching. The 770ml Large covers smaller dogs if this is more than you need.

How to Use

• Sit the outer bowl on a level, hard floor and drop the steel dish into it.
• Lift the steel dish out to wash after every meal, and rinse the outer bowl at the same time.
• Both parts are dishwasher safe.
• Dry both parts before reassembling so water is not trapped underneath.

Care & Caution

• Lift the steel dish out at every wash — food and water trapped underneath turn sour quickly.
