Ancol Made From Bone Poop Bag Dispenser – 12 Bags

A bone-shaped dispenser 8cm wide, supplied loaded with twelve waste bags, from Ancol's Made From range. The bags are the interesting part: they contain no plastic at all, being made from compostable vegetable extracts, and Ancol describe them as thick, strong and waterproof — which is the test any bag of this type has to pass before the material claim matters.

The dispenser body itself is a blend containing 30% straw, which cuts the amount of virgin plastic used to make it. It is fair to call the bags plastic-free; it is not accurate to say the same of the dispenser, and we would rather say so than let the range name do the talking.

Performance & Benefits
  • Bags contain zero plastic — made from compostable vegetable extracts that look and feel like plastic film.
  • Thick, strong and waterproof, so they behave like a conventional bag in use.
  • Home compostable, rather than requiring industrial composting.
  • Dispenser body blended with 30% straw, reducing the virgin plastic in the product.
  • Twelve bags supplied, and the dispenser refills with any standard roll of the same size.
  • Supplied in widely recycled packaging.
<>
Suitable For
  • Everyday dog walking, one dispenser to a lead or a coat pocket.
  • Households cutting single-use plastic without giving up on bag strength.
  • Anyone who would rather refill a dispenser than buy a new one each time.
  • Keeping a spare set of bags in the car or a walking bag.
  • Twelve bags is a starter quantity rather than a supply — for a household getting through several a day, buy a refill roll pack alongside it.
<>
How to Use
  • Feed the loose end of the roll out through the slot in the dispenser, and tear off one bag at a time.
  • Refill with any standard 18cm x 21cm roll once the twelve bags are used.
  • Turn the bag inside out over your hand, pick up, then invert and knot the top.
  • Bin the tied bag in a dog waste bin or, where your council allows it, general waste.

Care & Caution
  • Home compostable is not the same as council-accepted. Dog waste should not go on a compost heap used for growing food, so bag it and bin it unless your local authority says otherwise.
  • Ancol note that a bag left in the open will degrade rather than persist. That is a backstop against accidents, not a reason to leave a tied bag on a hedge.
  • Compostable film weakens with age, warmth and sunlight. Buy as you need rather than stockpiling, and keep spare rolls out of direct sun.
  • Keep loose bags and the dispenser away from dogs. A swallowed bag is an obstruction risk whatever it is made from.
