Ancol Polar Fleece Dog Jumper – Red, Medium (40cm back)

Medium is the middle of Ancol's Snug Fit Polar Fleece range: a 40cm back length and a 58–72cm chest girth, which is spaniel, small terrier-cross and border collie territory rather than anything larger. Sleeves and a ribbed chest hold it in place, and a hook-and-loop strip runs the length of the spine so it opens flat to put on.

It is a jumper, not a raincoat. Polyester fleece traps warm air and moves with the dog, but nothing about it turns water, so use it for dry cold, for the house, and as a warm layer under a waterproof when the weather turns.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Soft polyester fleece, warm for its weight and unrestrictive over the shoulder.
  • Ribbed stretch sleeves and chest panel keep the jumper from sliding backwards.
  • Hook-and-loop fastening down the spine, so it can be fitted without threading legs through anything.
  • Reflective edging for visibility on dark morning and evening walks.
  • Washes cool and dries quickly.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs measuring 40cm from collar to base of tail, with a chest girth of 58–72cm.
  • Thin-coated, clipped and short-legged breeds that lose heat in winter.
  • Older dogs and dogs on restricted exercise in cold weather.
  • Indoor wear in a cold house, and as a base layer under a shell.
  • If your dog measures nearer 30cm along the back take the Small, and nearer 50cm the Large. For rain rather than cold, the Ancol Stormguard Dog Coat is the waterproof, fleece-lined choice.
<>
How to Use
  • Measure the back from the base of the collar to the base of the tail with the dog standing square, then the chest girth just behind the front legs.
  • Lay the jumper over the back, put the front legs through the sleeves and close the hook-and-loop strip along the spine.
  • Check that a flat hand slides under the chest panel and the sleeves are not pinching the armpits.
  • Take it off indoors once the dog has warmed up, and whenever it has got damp.

<>
Care & Caution
  • Hand wash or machine wash in cool water. Air dry naturally; do not tumble dry or dry on a radiator, which distorts the fleece and lifts the reflective edging.
  • Fleece holds water rather than shedding it. A soaked jumper chills a dog faster than no jumper, so take it off once it is wet.
  • Remove it for crating, unsupervised time and rough play — the spine fastening can catch on a long coat or on furniture.
  • Check for rubbing under the armpits, and stop using it if the coat thins there.
