Ancol Rechargeable Flashing Collar Band – Orange

Orange is the high-visibility one of the three colours, and the difference shows when the band is switched off: beside a road at dusk, or in a dark boot with the leads and the water bowl, an orange band still catches your eye where a navy one disappears. Lit, it glows along the whole strip rather than from a single lamp, so what a driver sees is a moving line at neck height.

What you give up for that lit area is run time. Ancol quote up to 1.5 hours on constant and up to 4 hours on the flashing settings from a USB charge, which is a small fraction of what a coin-cell blinker will do — the trade is a much larger glow and no batteries to buy again. For an hour before work and an hour after, it is the right way round; for a night on the hill it is not.

Performance & Benefits
  • Flexible soft plastic outer with an internal light strip, lit along its length.
  • Ancol rate it visible up to 500 metres.
  • 70cm as supplied, and designed to be cut down for a close fit.
  • Three settings: flashing, rapid flash and constant.
  • USB rechargeable, so no disposable batteries.
  • Water-resistant, suitable for light rain and damp conditions.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs of any size once the band is trimmed — 70cm covers everything from a terrier to a great dane.
  • Off-lead evening walks, where a lit neck is easier to track across a field than a single point.
  • Owners who would rather charge a band than replace coin cells.
  • Use with a fitted collar, not instead of one.
  • Not the choice for an all-night job or a long walk far from a charger — a coin-cell light such as the Ancol Soft Blinker runs up to 50 hours constant and 80 hours flashing instead of hours.
<>
How to Use
  • Charge for at least 30 minutes before first use. The charging light goes out when the band is full.
  • Hold the band round the neck, mark the length you need with a little slack, and cut carefully to size.
  • Clip it round the neck above the collar and press the fastening home.
  • Press the button to cycle flashing, rapid flash and constant, and again to switch off.
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and allow it to dry naturally.

<>
Care & Caution
  • Cut the band once and cut it long. Take the fit from a tape measure round the neck, not from guesswork — you cannot put length back.
  • Do not immerse it, and keep the charging port out of heavy wet. Water-resistant is not waterproof.
  • The band is a visibility aid, not a collar. Never clip a lead to it, and always walk the dog on a properly fitted collar or harness.
  • Do not leave it on an unattended dog, and check daily that a trimmed band has not tightened as a winter coat comes in.
  • Charge it indoors, away from bedding, and unplug it once the charging light goes out.
