Ancol Soho Dalmatian & Zigzag Reversible Harness – XS, 23–38cm

This is one harness with two faces, not two harnesses. Turn it one way and it is the pale pink Dalmatian print with hand-drawn black spots; turn it inside out and it is the black Zigzag with pale pink zigzags. The XS adjusts from 23cm to 38cm around the girth, which is the smallest of the four sizes Ancol make and the one that fits toy breeds, small terriers and young puppies.

It is cut from 100% recycled fabric, lightweight and weatherproof, and Ancol put the saving at four plastic bottles kept out of landfill per harness. On a very small dog the low weight is the main argument for it: a heavy harness on a 4kg dog changes how it moves.

How to Use

• Measure the girth with a soft tape just behind the front legs, then set the straps so the figure sits inside 23–38cm.
• Decide which pattern is showing before fitting, then thread the harness the same way round each time.
• Fit so two fingers slide under every strap, with nothing pressing into the armpit.
• Clip the lead to the harness ring, not to the collar, when using it.
• Ancol publish no washing instructions for the Soho harnesses; sponge clean and air dry rather than machine washing.

Care & Caution

• Check the fit every few days on a growing puppy — an XS is outgrown quickly.
• A harness is not a chew toy. Take it off indoors, and replace it if a strap is chewed through.
• Do not use a reversible harness with the straps twisted; check the layout each time it is turned.
• Inspect buckles and stitching before each walk, particularly around the lead ring.
