Ancol Timberwolf Leather Collar – Sable, Size 6

Ancol began in 1971 making leather collars, and the Timberwolf is the range that still carries that work. It is cut from top-grain bridle leather, made in the UK, and sewn down both sides with bonded thread rather than glued or single-stitched — the detail that decides whether a leather collar lasts a year or a decade.

Sable is the warm mid-brown of the range, and it darkens and softens with wear the way good leather should. This is size 6, cut for necks of 45 to 54cm, which covers most labradors, collies and similar mid-to-large breeds. Measure the neck before ordering rather than working from the dog's weight.

Performance & Benefits
  • Top-grain bridle leather, the grade used for tack rather than fashion goods.
  • Made in the UK by Ancol's own workforce.
  • Sewn down both sides with bonded thread for strength where the stress falls.
  • Softens and darkens with wear instead of cracking and peeling.
  • Traditional buckle fastening, so the fit does not creep as a plastic clip can.
  • Repairable and long-lived — a collar to condition once a year, not replace annually.
<>
Suitable For
  • Necks measuring 45 to 54cm.
  • Mid-size to large breeds in everyday walking use.
  • Owners who want a collar that improves with age.
  • Smaller dogs are covered by the same collar in other sizes — we stock size 3 (28–36cm) and size 5 (39–48cm) in sable.
  • Not the right choice for a dog that swims on most walks or works in wet ditches; a nylon collar such as the Ancol Viva Adjustable range takes repeated soaking far better than leather.
<>
How to Use
  • Measure round the middle of the neck with a tape, then add room for two fingers under the fitted collar.
  • Fasten so two fingers slide beneath it comfortably but the collar cannot pull over the ears.
  • Check the fit again on a growing dog, and after a winter coat comes in or goes out.

Care & Caution
  • Leather is natural and porous, so slight variation in colour and finish between collars is normal.
  • Avoid saturating the collar — natural dye can transfer when the leather is wet.
  • If it does get soaked, let it air dry away from direct heat. Radiators and hairdryers make leather brittle.
  • Condition with a suitable leather conditioner about once a year, and store somewhere dry.
  • Check the stitching and buckle holes for wear at each conditioning.
