Ancol Viva Adjustable Dog Collar – Black, 45–70cm (Size 5–9)
Twenty-five centimetres of adjustment, from 45cm up to 70cm, makes this the largest Viva adjustable collar and the widest-ranging of the three. At the bottom of its range it fits a big Labrador or a German Shepherd; at the top it will go round the neck of a mastiff, a Rottweiler or a Newfoundland.
Ancol call it size 5–9 on their own collar scale. On a dog this size the real value of the adjustment is seasonal: a double coat in February needs several centimetres more collar than the same dog stripped out in July, and the slider absorbs that without a second purchase.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Adjusts across 25cm, from a 45cm neck to a 70cm neck — Ancol size 5–9, the largest in the range.
- Poly-weave webbing, which Ancol describe as lightweight and weatherproof.
- Quick-fit and release buckle, so a big collar comes off without wrestling a pin buckle.
- Sliding adjuster sets any length in the range and holds it.
- Rated by Ancol for swimming as well as walking.
- Machine washable at 30°C.
- Widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
Suitable For
- Large and giant breeds measuring 45–70cm at the base of the neck.
- German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermanns, larger retrievers, mastiff types and Newfoundlands.
- Heavily coated dogs whose neck measurement moves by several centimetres through the year.
- Big adolescent dogs still adding width across the shoulders and neck.
- Necks under 45cm belong in the 30–50cm size 2–5 Viva adjustable collar, which we stock in black, blue, pink and red.
- The two ranges overlap between 45cm and 50cm. Both fit, but this collar sits early in its adjustment there while the 30–50cm one is nearly out of webbing, so on a strong dog in that band this is the one to buy. Over 70cm, Ancol make nothing larger in the Viva adjustable range.
How to Use
- Measure round the base of the neck, where the collar meets the shoulders, with a soft tape and the dog standing square.
- Ancol's size numbers are their own collar scale, not a breed size. Size 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm and 9 is 59–68cm.
- "Size 5–9" is shorthand for a collar that adjusts across the top five of those. Ancol's published working range is 45–70cm, and that figure is the one to check your measurement against.
- Buckle it on and draw the free end through the slider until two fingers fit flat between webbing and neck — Ancol's own rule.
- Re-check the fit after a clip, a strip or a seasonal moult.
- Machine wash at 30°C. Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry near direct heat, and let it dry fully before refitting.

Care & Caution
- The buckle carries the load on a heavy dog. Check it monthly for hairline cracks and replace the collar at the first sign of one.
- A collar is not a tethering point, and least of all on a dog this size. Do not tie it up by the collar or leave it clipped to anything unattended.
- Check the webbing where it doubles through the slider; fraying there means the collar is done.
- An adjustable webbing collar is a walking and tag collar, not a control device for a dog that lunges — a harness spreads that load better.
