Ancol Viva Adjustable Dog Collar – Blue, 20–30cm (Size 1–2)

A 20–30cm collar is the small end of the Viva adjustable range, and blue is one of the colours Ancol make in it. The webbing is poly-weave, which Ancol call lightweight and weatherproof and are happy to see in water — the practical reason to put a nylon collar rather than a leather one on a dog that goes in every stream it passes.

Ancol label the range size 1–2, meaning it spans the two smallest sizes on their collar scale. In use, the adjustment is what you are paying for: a slider sets the length anywhere in that 10cm, and a quick-fit and release buckle joins the collar and carries the load.

Performance & Benefits
  • Fits a neck of 20–30cm, quoted by Ancol as size 1–2.
  • Weatherproof poly-weave webbing, rated by Ancol for swimming as well as everyday walks.
  • Dries quickly and washes at 30°C, unlike leather, which should not be soaked at all.
  • Quick-fit and release buckle for one-handed fitting.
  • Slider adjustment, so the fit can follow a growing puppy rather than being reset by punched holes.
  • Lightweight enough for a toy breed to wear all day.
  • Widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.

Suitable For
  • Toy and small breeds with a 20–30cm neck.
  • Dogs that swim, and owners who would rather not dry out a leather collar.
  • Puppies still growing into their adult measurement.
  • Winter walks, where the collar gets wet daily and needs to wash clean.
  • Not enough length for a neck over 30cm — the 30–50cm size 2–5 Viva adjustable collar covers those, and we stock it in blue as well as black, pink and red.
<>
How to Use
  • Measure round the base of the neck with a soft tape, standing the dog square. Measure over the coat you will normally have on the dog, not straight after a clip.
  • Ancol's collar numbers are their own scale rather than a breed size: 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm, 9 is 59–68cm.
  • "Size 1–2" is shorthand for adjusting across the first two of those. Ancol give the actual range as 20–30cm, and that is what to check your measurement against.
  • Fit so two fingers lie flat between the webbing and the neck — Ancol's stated rule.
  • Machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach or tumble dry, keep it away from direct heat, and air dry fully before use.

Specification
  • Neck 20–30cm, adjustable throughout. Ancol size 1–2.
  • Colour blue; the 20–30cm size is stocked here in blue, black and red.
  • Poly-weave webbing, described by Ancol as lightweight and weatherproof. They publish no webbing width and no fibre percentages, so neither is stated.
  • Quick-fit and release buckle, material not published by Ancol.
  • Ancol product code 313070.
  • Larger sizes in the same range: 30–50cm (size 2–5) and 45–70cm (size 5–9).
  • Ancol give no specification for the collar's lead attachment ring, so none is quoted here.

Care & Caution
  • Wet webbing on a wet neck can rub. Slacken or remove the collar after swimming and let both dry.
  • A collar is not a tie-out. Never leave a dog tethered or clipped to anything by it.
  • Check the buckle and the webbing at the slider regularly, and replace the collar once either shows cracking or fraying.
  • Check the fit weekly on a puppy, since 20–30cm is a range most small dogs grow through quickly.
