Ancol Viva Adjustable Dog Collar – Pink, 30–50cm (Size 2–5)

Ancol build the Viva range for weather rather than for looks, and this 30–50cm collar is the one that tends to be used in it. The webbing is poly-weave, which Ancol describe as lightweight and weatherproof and rate for swimming as well as walking, and it washes at 30°C when it comes home the colour of the field.

The adjustment covers 30cm to 50cm at the neck, which Ancol label size 2–5 on their collar scale. Pink is one of four colours made at this size, and it is a good deal easier to pick out in long grass or failing light than black webbing is.

How to Use

• Measure round the base of the neck with a soft tape, taking it over the coat the dog normally carries.
• Ancol's collar sizes are their own scale, not breed sizes: 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm, 9 is 59–68cm.
• "Size 2–5" is Ancol's way of saying the collar adjusts across those four sizes; the range they publish, 30–50cm, is the number to buy on.
• Fit so that two fingers lie flat between the webbing and the neck — Ancol's stated check.
• Rinse mud and salt out after a beach or river walk; leaving grit in the webbing wears the slider.
• Machine wash at 30°C. Do not bleach or tumble dry, keep it away from direct heat, and air dry fully before use.

Care & Caution

• Wet webbing against a wet neck can rub. Slacken or remove the collar after swimming and let both dry.
• A collar is not a tethering point, wet or dry. Never leave a dog attached to anything by it.
• Check the webbing at the slider and the buckle for cracks, and replace the collar if either has gone.
• Grit picked up on a beach walk grinds at the buckle. Rinse it through before it dries in.
