Ancol Viva Adjustable Dog Collar – Purple, 45–70cm (Size 5–9)
Purple appears only at the top of the Viva adjustable range: 45–70cm, Ancol's size 5–9. If it is the colour you want, this is the collar, and the neck it fits is a large one — from a big gundog at 45cm through to a giant breed at 70cm, with no purple option at either of the two smaller sizes.
The 25cm span is the widest of the three collars, and on a heavy-coated dog that is a practical feature rather than a specification: poly-weave webbing, a quick-fit and release buckle, and a sliding adjuster that holds a set length instead of jumping between punched holes.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 25cm of adjustment, 45cm to 70cm at the neck — Ancol size 5–9.
- The only size in the Viva adjustable range made in purple.
- Poly-weave webbing, which Ancol describe as lightweight and weatherproof.
- Quick-fit and release buckle rather than a pin buckle and holes.
- Slider adjustment, so a seasonal change in coat thickness is a two-second correction.
- Rated by Ancol for swimming, and machine washable at 30°C.
- Widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
Suitable For
- Large and giant breeds measuring 45–70cm at the base of the neck.
- Anyone who wants purple specifically — it is not made in the smaller two sizes.
- Double-coated dogs whose neck measurement changes between summer and winter.
- Multi-dog households using colour to keep collars apart.
- Dogs under 45cm at the neck need the 30–50cm size 2–5 Viva adjustable collar, which we stock in black, blue, pink and red but not purple.
- Where the ranges overlap between 45 and 50cm, this collar is the better choice: it sits early in its adjustment while the 30–50cm collar would be at full extension. Ancol make no Viva adjustable collar above 70cm.
How to Use
- Measure round the base of the neck, where the collar will sit, with a soft tape and the dog standing normally.
- Ancol's numbers 1 to 9 are their own collar scale rather than breed sizes: 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm and 9 is 59–68cm.
- Because those sizes overlap, a large dog can look like two of them at once. An adjustable collar removes the decision: "size 5–9" means it covers all five, and Ancol give the working range as 45–70cm.
- Set the length so two fingers lie flat between webbing and neck — Ancol's own fitting check — then thread the tail back through the keeper.
- Re-measure and re-set after a strip, a clip or a heavy moult.
- Machine wash at 30°C, without bleach, tumble drying or direct heat, and dry fully before refitting.
Specification
- Adjustable to fit a 45–70cm neck. Ancol size 5–9.
- Colour purple, made only in this size across the Viva adjustable range.
- Poly-weave webbing. Ancol publish neither a webbing width nor a fibre composition, so no figures are given here.
- Quick-fit and release buckle with a sliding length adjuster; the buckle material is not published by Ancol.
- Ancol product code 313280.
- The range also runs as 20–30cm (size 1–2) and 30–50cm (size 2–5), neither of which is made in purple.
- Ancol publish no specification for the lead attachment ring on this collar, so none is stated.
Care & Caution
- Check the buckle for cracks monthly. It is the part that fails, and on a 70cm dog it fails under load.
- A collar is not a restraint or a tie-out point. Do not tether a dog by it or leave it clipped to anything unattended.
- Replace the collar if the webbing has frayed where it doubles through the slider.
- A webbing collar is for walking and carrying a tag. For a large dog that lunges, a harness spreads the load far better.
