Ancol Viva Padded Collar – Black, Size 6 (45–54cm)

Size 6 covers necks of 45–54cm and is the largest padded Viva collar we stock — full-sized Labrador, Springer, working Collie and most crossbreeds of that build. Nine centimetres of adjustment usually carries one dog through a summer coat and a winter one without a second collar being needed.

Because it goes on a dog that gets wet, the washing instruction is worth reading properly. Ancol say machine wash at 30°C, do not tumble dry, and let it air dry naturally before reuse. The last part is the bit people skip. A padded collar holds water in the padding for longer than plain webbing does, and putting a damp one straight back on a thick-coated dog is how you end up with a smell and a sore patch under the jaw — so it is worth having a spare if your dog swims in winter.

How to Use

• Measure at the base of the neck and buy on that figure, not on breed.
• Adjust until two fingers slide flat under the webbing.
• Rinse mud and salt out after beach and river walks rather than letting it dry in.
• Machine wash at 30°C maximum. Do not tumble dry.
• Air dry fully — the padding stays damp after the webbing feels dry, so give it longer than you think.
