Size 6 takes necks of 45–54cm, the top of the padded Viva range as we stock it. On a collar this size it is worth knowing what fails first, because it is rarely the webbing. The buckle tongue and the holes it passes through take the wear, and the stitching around the ID loop takes the rest — that loop carries a lead clip and a jangling tag through every walk, so it works harder than any other centimetre of the collar.

Nothing on a webbing collar is repairable, so the sensible habit is a look rather than a repair: run a thumb over the stitching by the loop every few weeks, and check the buckle holes have not started to tear into ovals. Caught early that is a replacement at your convenience rather than a collar coming apart in a car park. Poly-weave webbing, soft padding, satin buckle, washable at 30°C.

How to Use

• Measure the base of the neck and buy on that figure.
• Adjust so two fingers slide flat under the webbing.
• Check the stitching by the ID loop and the buckle holes every few weeks — that is where this collar will show its age.
• Machine wash at 30°C, do not tumble dry, air dry naturally before refitting.
