Ancol Viva Reflective Rope Dog Lead – Red, 1.07m x 10mm

Ancol make the Viva rope lead in two thicknesses, and this is the 10mm — the one they rate for dogs up to 30kg, which is the right end of the range for terriers, spaniels, whippets and mid-sized crossbreeds. It is 1.07m long, in red, with reflective weave through the webbing.

The difference between this and a flat webbing lead is felt in the hand rather than seen on the shelf. A round rope section rolls into the palm and you can close a fist on it, where a flat strap wants to lie edge-on and dig in under load. At 10mm it is a slim cord rather than a fat one, so it coils into a coat pocket and does not swing about on a small dog, but it still gives you more to hold than a flat tape lead of the same width would.

Performance & Benefits
  • 10mm poly-weave webbing, 1.07m long, round in section rather than flat.
  • Comfortable to close a hand around, and slim enough to coil into a pocket.
  • Ancol rate this thickness for dogs up to 30kg.
  • Reflective weave through the webbing for low light and evening walks.
  • Satin-finish trigger hook onto a collar or harness ring.
  • Lightweight, weatherproof, and finished with leather-effect detailing.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs up to 30kg, on Ancol's own rating for the 10mm.
  • Owners who dislike the way flat webbing digs in when a dog leans on it.
  • Everyday town and park walking, morning and evening.
  • Wet weather and dogs that go into the water.
  • Not enough lead for a dog over 30kg or a hard puller — the Ancol Viva Reflective Rope Dog Lead Red 1.07m x 12mm is the one for those.
<>
How to Use
  • Clip the trigger hook to the D-ring of a properly fitted collar or harness.
  • Handle loop over the wrist, slack in the hand — not wound round the fingers.
  • Tug the hook against the ring to check the gate has closed.
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and allow to air dry naturally.
  • Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry in direct heat.

Care & Caution
  • Reflective is not illuminated. The weave only returns light that already falls on it, so it does nothing on an unlit path without a torch or a lit collar band.
  • Check the stitching, leather-effect trim and trigger hook before every walk and replace the lead if you find wear.
  • A rope lead can burn the hand if a dog lunges and the lead runs through it. Gloves are a reasonable precaution on a strong dog.
  • Not a tether. Do not tie your dog up by it or leave it attached to anything unattended.
