Armitage Good Girl Cat Litter Tray

An open plastic litter tray, which is still what most cats prefer: nothing to push through, nothing overhead, and a clear view of the room while they are in it. Moulded in one piece with a rolled rim, it takes a scoop and a scrub without splitting, and it stacks with a second tray if you keep one per cat plus a spare.

Armitage sell it under the Good Girl name, their cat-side counterpart to Good Boy. They publish nothing about it on their own website — no dimensions, no material grade, no colour range — so measure the space it has to live in before ordering rather than assuming a size.

Performance & Benefits
  • Open tray design, which most cats accept more readily than a hooded box.
  • One-piece moulded plastic, so there are no seams for urine to get into.
  • Smooth interior that scoops clean and rinses out quickly.
  • Light enough to carry out and tip, full, without a second pair of hands.
  • Inexpensive enough to keep one tray per cat plus a spare, which is what behaviourists recommend.
<>
Suitable For
  • Indoor cats and cats kept in overnight.
  • Kittens and older cats, who find a low open tray easier to step into.
  • Use with clumping, non-clumping or wood-pellet litters, and with a liner if you use one.
  • A second or third tray in a multi-cat house.
  • Not the choice for a cat that kicks litter everywhere or over-sprays the sides — a high-sided or hooded box contains that better.
<>
How to Use
  • Fill to a depth of about 3–5cm of litter; too shallow and a cat will not dig, too deep and it gets tipped out.
  • Scoop solids daily and top the litter up as it goes down.
  • Empty, wash and refill completely at least once a week, with hot water and a mild washing-up liquid.
  • Site it somewhere quiet, away from food and water bowls and away from a through route.
  • Dry the tray fully before refilling; damp litter clumps to the base.
<>
Specification
  • Open plastic cat litter tray from Armitage's Good Girl range.
  • Armitage publish no dimensions, capacity, weight, material grade or colour for this tray on their own website, so none is stated here. Measure your space before ordering.
  • Good Girl does not currently appear among the brands Armitage list, so treat this as an established line rather than a current one.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Do not clean a litter tray with phenolic or coal-tar disinfectants — the black and white fluids used around yards are toxic to cats, and the residue stays in the plastic. Hot water and washing-up liquid is the right answer.
  • Cat faeces can carry Toxoplasma. Pregnant women and anyone whose immune system is suppressed should not empty the tray; if there is no alternative, wear gloves and wash hands afterwards.
  • Wash hands after handling used litter, and keep the tray away from where food is prepared.
