Aubiose Eucalyptus Horse Bedding – 20kg Hemp with Natural Fresh Scent
Aubiose Eucalyptus Horse Bedding – 20kg
This is the same chopped hemp shiv as standard Aubiose, with eucalyptus essential oil worked through it. The hemp does the work — it is the woody core of the hemp stem, dust-extracted rather than merely screened, and it draws liquid down into the lower layer of the bed so the surface the horse stands on stays dry. The eucalyptus is there for the stable's atmosphere.
Aubiose put usage at seven to eight bales to lay a bed in a 3.5m x 3.5m stall, then roughly one bale a week after that, and say a hemp bed produces about half the manure volume of straw. That last figure is where the money is: a smaller heap, less to move, less to pay someone to take away, and a bedding that composts down without additives.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Eucalyptus essential oil gives the stable a noticeably fresher smell than plain hemp.
- Hemp shiv takes liquid into the lower layer of the bed, keeping the top layer dry.
- Dust-extracted, which is a step beyond the screening most beddings get.
- 100% natural hemp, GMO free, with nothing else added beyond the eucalyptus oil.
- Produces around half the manure volume of a straw bed, by Aubiose's own figure.
- Composts quickly and naturally, with no additives needed.
- Around one 20kg bale a week once the bed is established.
Suitable For
- Horses with respiratory sensitivities, where dust in the stable is the issue.
- Stabled horses and horses on box rest spending long hours indoors.
- Horses that eat a straw bed — hemp shiv is woody stem, not forage.
- Yards limited on muck heap space or paying for waste removal.
- If the eucalyptus is not wanted — some horses object to a scented bed — plain Aubiose hemp bedding is the same product without it.
How to Use
- Aubiose give seven to eight bales to lay a bed in a standard 3.5m x 3.5m stall.
- Then roughly one bale a week to maintain it.
- Skip out daily and top up. Hemp holds wet below the visible surface, so dig rather than skim.
- Store bales off the ground and under cover — hemp is absorbent and will pull damp out of a concrete floor before you ever use it.
- Compost the used bedding or take it to an organic waste facility.
Specification
- 20kg bale of chopped hemp shiv with eucalyptus essential oil, in fully recyclable packaging.
- 100% natural hemp, GMO free.
- Coverage: 7–8 bales for a 3.5m x 3.5m stall, then about one bale a week.
- Around half the manure volume of a straw bed.
- Aubiose publish no absorbency multiple and no dust percentage for the bedding, so no figure is quoted here.
Care & Caution
- Eucalyptus makes for a fresher stable. It is not a treatment for respiratory disease — a horse that is coughing needs a vet, not a change of bedding alone.
