Baileys No.2 Working Cubes – 20kg

The No.2 cube is the step up from Baileys' Everyday High Fibre Cubes and, as Baileys put it themselves, roughly a half-strength Top Line Conditioning Cube: 10 MJ/kg against the Everyday's 8.5, with 11.5% protein and 16% fibre. It is barley-free, with micronised wheat as the main cereal.

That combination gives a horse in real work enough to go on with, without tipping it into the energy of a competition feed. Fully balanced with vitamins, minerals and soya oil, so nothing needs adding on top. Supplied in 20kg.

Performance & Benefits
  • 10 MJ/kg — a genuine step up from a high fibre cube without reaching conditioning-feed energy.
  • Barley-free, which helps horses that go sharp on it.
  • Micronised wheat, cooked for a slower, more even release than raw cereal.
  • 16% fibre from oatfeed, wheatfeed, alfalfa meal and nutritionally improved straw.
  • 11.5% protein, with extracted sunflower meal and alfalfa behind it.
  • Fully balanced, with vitamins, minerals and soya oil already in the cube.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses competing at grassroots level.
  • Horses in regular work that need some condition support.
  • Competition horses in early season training.
  • Young horses being started and brought into work.
  • Still cereal-based at 20% starch, so a laminitic or insulin-resistant horse is better on Baileys No.24 Ease & Excel Cubes or No.26 Senior Soft & Lite.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed by weight alongside forage. One level Stubbs round bowl scoop holds about 1.8kg of cubes.
  • Baileys cap a meal at 0.5kg of cubes per 100kg bodyweight — 2.5kg for a 500kg horse.
  • Keep the whole feed within 1.5–2kg for a horse or 1.25–1.5kg for a pony, chaff and beet pulp included.
  • Feed dry or dampened, split across at least two meals a day.
  • Baileys publish their per-workload rates on the bag rather than online; their nutrition team will set a rate.
