Baileys No.3 Stud & Youngstock Cubes – 20kg

The No.3 cube is the barley-free, lower-starch half of Baileys' pair of all-round stud feeds — 13 MJ/kg and 15% protein, with calcium at 1.2% and phosphorus at 0.7% to support bone development in growing stock and the demands of lactation.

Compared with the No.7 mix it drops the whole oats and the micronised barley, which brings starch down from 32% to 23% and takes some of the fizz out of the ration. For a stud running a lot of stock through one feed, the cube is also the cheaper and less wasteful format. Supplied in 20kg.

Performance & Benefits
  • 15% protein, with soya bean meal, alfalfa meal, micronised soya and sunflower meal behind it.
  • Calcium 1.2% and phosphorus 0.7%, in the ratio growing bone needs.
  • Barley-free and lower in starch than the No.7 mix, at 23%.
  • 13 MJ/kg, enough for a lactating mare or a growing yearling.
  • Digest Plus scFOS prebiotic included.
  • A cube, so nothing gets picked out and left when a group is fed together.
<>
Suitable For
  • Pregnant and lactating mares with moderate to high calorie requirements.
  • Growing youngstock of all ages.
  • Covering stallions that need a non-heating feed.
  • Studs wanting one economical, all-round ration across a mixed group.
  • Over-specified for a leisure horse in light work — Baileys No.2 Working Cubes suit that horse better.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed by weight alongside forage. One level Stubbs round bowl scoop holds about 1.8kg of cubes.
  • Baileys base their stud feeding tables on anticipated mature bodyweight rather than current weight, which matters when feeding youngstock.
  • Baileys cap a meal at 0.5kg of cubes per 100kg bodyweight — 2.5kg for a 500kg horse.
  • Keep total meal size within 1.5–2kg for a horse or 1.25–1.5kg for a pony, chaff and beet pulp included.
  • Baileys publish their stud tables on the bag rather than on their website; their nutrition team will set rates for a particular mare or foal.
