No.9 is Baileys' all-round mix for horses that need to work and could do with waking up a little. Bruised oats sit alongside micronised wheat, barley and maize, with soya oil, cooked linseed and Baileys' own Outshine blend for the omega balance — a genuine competition mix rather than a fibre feed dressed up as one.

It is a cereal feed and the analysis says so: 32% starch and 12.5 MJ/kg of digestible energy. That is what puts sparkle into a laid-back horse in regular work, and it is equally why this bag has no business going anywhere near a laminitic or an insulin-resistant pony.

Feeding

• Feed according to bodyweight, condition and workload, alongside ad-lib forage.
• One level Stubbs round bowl scoop holds around 1.4kg.
• Split anything over 2kg across two or more feeds a day.
• Introduce gradually over seven to ten days.
• Clean, fresh water at all times.

Care & Caution

• At 32% starch this is not a feed for a horse or pony prone to laminitis, insulin resistance or EMS.
• High-starch meals are a known trigger for tying up in susceptible horses. Keep individual meals small and drop the ration on rest days.
