Battles Black Disinfectant Fluid – General Outdoor Stable & Kennel Cleaner 4.5L
Battles Black Disinfectant Fluid – 4.5L
Black fluid is the old yard disinfectant: a dark, water-miscible carbolic concentrate that is diluted heavily and washed or sprayed over hard surfaces. It is used where a job is large and dirty rather than delicate — stable floors, kennel runs, concrete yards, livestock housing, cattle trailers — and the smell that lingers afterwards is part of what people buy it for.
At 4.5 litres this is the working size, bought to be diluted many times over rather than used neat. Battles' own website is not currently reachable from here, so the dilution rate, contact time and hazard classification printed on the container are the figures to work from, and they should be read before the cap comes off.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Traditional black carbolic disinfectant concentrate, miscible with water.
- Diluted heavily, so a 4.5 litre container covers a great deal of ground.
- Applied by washing, spraying or through cleaning equipment, on hard outdoor surfaces.
- Suited to yards, stables, kennels, animal housing, livestock buildings and trailers.
- Leaves the distinctive carbolic smell associated with a cleaned-down yard.
Suitable For
- Hard outdoor surfaces: concrete, brick, block and stone.
- Stables, kennel runs, animal housing and cattle trailers, as part of a routine cleaning programme.
- Drains, gulleys and yard channels.
- Not for use in catteries, or anywhere eggs or egg packaging are handled or stored.
- Not a surface cleaner for the house and not for use on anything an animal eats or drinks from — a food-safe cleaner belongs there instead.
How to Use
- Read the label before use. Battles print the dilution rate, contact time and hazard information on the container, and the label is the instruction that counts.
- Dilute with water in a bucket or sprayer before applying — never use it neat.
- Wash or spray onto the surface, leave it to act, then rinse thoroughly.
- Let the area dry and ventilate it well before animals go back in.
- Wear gloves and eye protection, and keep the concentrate off skin and clothing.
Specification
- Concentrated black disinfectant fluid, water-miscible, in a 4.5 litre container.
- For general outdoor and animal-housing hygiene on hard surfaces.
- Battles' website is not reachable from here, so no dilution rate is reproduced on this page. Earlier copy quoted one part fluid to 300 parts water; that could not be checked against Battles' own literature, and the container label supersedes it either way.
- Not suitable for catteries, or for areas handling or storing eggs and egg packaging.
Care & Caution
- Black fluids of this type are hazardous in concentrate. Keep them off skin and out of eyes, wear gloves and eye protection, and wash any splashes off at once.
- Phenolic and carbolic disinfectants are particularly dangerous to cats, which is why this product is not for use in catteries. Keep cats away from treated surfaces until they are rinsed and dry.
- Harmful to fish and other aquatic life. Do not let the diluted solution run into ponds, ditches or watercourses.
- Ventilate thoroughly and let surfaces dry before animals return.
- Keep the container closed, upright and out of reach of children and animals, and never decant it into an unlabelled bottle.
