Buddycare Scottish Salmon Oil – 500ml

One ingredient: pure Scottish salmon oil at 100%. No carrier oil, no preservative listed, nothing added for the smell. It goes over the main meal and gets stirred in, and it is the plainest way to put marine oil into a dog or cat that is not eating much fish.

Buddycare list it for dogs and cats of any size from ten weeks of age, and ask for it to be introduced over a week — half the intended amount at first, building up. The 500ml bottle is the smallest of the three sizes they make, which matters with an oil, because Buddycare give it nine months once opened.

Performance & Benefits
  • 100% pure Scottish salmon oil, with nothing else declared in it.
  • Suitable for both dogs and cats, which is unusual in a supplement of this kind.
  • Cleared by Buddycare from ten weeks of age.
  • Pours straight onto food — no capsule to hide and no powder to leave in the bowl.
  • 500ml is the smallest of the three sizes, so it is used up well inside the nine-month opened life.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs and cats of any size from ten weeks upwards.
  • Animals on a dry diet with little or no fish in it.
  • Dull coats, and dogs coming out of a heavy moult.
  • Multi-pet households, since one bottle covers both species.
  • Not the product for a dog that needs a measured EPA and DHA dose on veterinary advice — Buddycare publish no fatty acid figures, so a labelled veterinary oil is the right choice there.
<>
Feeding
  • Introduce over seven days: start on half the amount you intend to give and build up slowly.
  • Add to the main meal and mix it through, rather than pouring it on top.
  • Shake the bottle well before every use.
  • Store somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
  • Use within nine months of opening.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: pure Scottish salmon oil (100%).
  • Buddycare publish no analytical constituents for this oil — no omega 3, EPA or DHA percentage — so none is stated here.
  • Buddycare also publish no dosage table by bodyweight; their instructions are to build up gradually to the amount on the bottle.
  • 500ml bottle. Buddycare also make it in 1 litre and 5 litres.
  • Labelled for animal use only.
<>
Care & Caution
  • This is a pure fat. Do not start a dog with a history of pancreatitis, or one on a prescribed low-fat diet, without asking your vet first.
  • Going in at full dose rather than building up over the week usually causes loose stools. Buddycare's seven-day introduction is there for a reason.
  • Keep out of reach of children. For animal use only.
  • Rancid oil smells sharp and sour rather than fishy — if it does, throw it out rather than feeding it.
