Canagan British Braised Beef Wet Dog Food – 400g
A 400g ring-pull can of complete grain-free wet food built on one animal protein: freshly prepared beef at 65% of the recipe. Beef is the whole of the meat content here, which is what makes this can useful if you are trying to work out what a dog does and does not react to.
It is also the most concentrated of the Canagan 400g cans. Moisture is declared at 75% against 77–80% for the chicken and fish recipes, so a can of this carries rather more food and rather less water than its stablemates — worth knowing if you are feeding a big dog on wet alone.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 65% freshly prepared beef, deboned and cooked in the can rather than added as a dried meal.
- Crude protein 10.8% and crude fat 7.8%, the second fattiest of the five 400g cans we stock.
- Moisture 75% — the lowest of the range, so more food per 400g tin.
- Sweet potato, carrots, peas and broccoli in place of cereal, wheat or maize.
- Green lipped mussel is declared as a source of glucosamine at 100 mg/kg.
- Salmon oil for fats, plus yucca, slippery elm, nettle, rosehips, marigold, parsley, peppermint, aniseed and rosemary all appear at the tail of the ingredient list.
Suitable For
- Adult dogs of every size, fed as a complete meal or spooned over dry food.
- Dogs being kept off wheat, maize and other cereals.
- Owners running a single-protein trial who want beef and nothing else in the tin.
- Households that want one recipe a whole multi-dog house will eat.
- Not for a dog that reacts to beef — the beef-free cans in this range are Canagan Chicken & Wild Boar Casserole and Canagan Salmon & Herring Supper, both of which we stock.
- Not formulated for puppies: Canagan Puppy Feast is their 400g can for growing dogs.
Feeding
- Canagan's adult guide, in 400g cans a day: toy 1–5kg a quarter to half a can; small 5–12kg half to one and a half; medium 12–25kg one and a half to two and three quarters; large 25–45kg two and three quarters to three and three quarters; giant 45–70kg three and three quarters to five and three quarters.
- Introduce over a week: 25% Canagan on day one, half and half on day three, 75% on day five, all Canagan by day seven.
- Canagan advise adjusting by 10% either way if your dog is carrying too much or too little condition.
- Serve at room temperature and keep fresh water alongside.
- Refrigerate the opened can and use it within two days.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: freshly prepared beef (65%), sweet potato, carrots, peas, broccoli, minerals, green lipped mussel, salmon oil, apple, spinach, seaweed, parsley, yucca, rosehips, nettle, marigold, slippery elm, aniseed, peppermint, rosemary. Green lipped mussel is a source of glucosamine at 100 mg/kg.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 10.8%, crude fat 7.8%, crude fibre 0.5%, crude ash 2.2%, moisture 75%.
- Nutritional additives per kg: vitamin D3 200 IU, zinc 25 mg, manganese 1.4 mg, iodine 0.75 mg.
- Canagan's own current range lists this 65% beef 400g can as Beef Stew; they publish no product under the name British Braised Beef, and the figures above are theirs for the 65% beef recipe.
- Canagan describe the beef only as freshly prepared beef and the vegetables only as carrots, peas and broccoli — no country of origin and no organic status is claimed by them, so none is claimed here.
