Canagan Chicken Softies Dog Treats – 200g
Softies are Canagan's soft training treat: chicken at 41%, peas, a liquid vegetable starch to bind them, collagen at 4% and a half per cent of cinnamon. They tear easily into smaller pieces, which matters when you are getting through a lot of them in a session and do not want to hand over a meal's worth of calories.
The collagen is the reason to pick these over a biscuit — Canagan include it for skin, coat and nail condition. At 28% protein and only 5% fat they are leaner than most soft treats, and the 17% moisture is what keeps them pliable rather than crumbly.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Chicken 41% with collagen at 4%, for skin, coat and nail condition.
- Crude protein 28% at only 5% crude fat.
- Soft at 17% moisture, so they tear into smaller training-sized pieces.
- Cinnamon at 0.5% and peas; no grain in the recipe.
- Preserved with citric acid and DL-malic acid rather than synthetics.
- A 200g recyclable bag; Canagan also make a 50g pocket size.
Suitable For
- Puppies and adults — Canagan label Softies For Puppies & Adults.
- Training and recall work, where a treat has to be swallowed quickly.
- Older dogs and dogs with poor teeth that struggle with hard biscuits.
- Dogs on a low-fat regime, at 5% crude fat.
- These are a complementary food, not a meal, and should be counted against the day's ration.
- Not suitable for a dog being kept off chicken — Canagan make the same treat in salmon, quail and duck.
Feeding
- A complementary food for dogs, fed alongside a complete diet rather than instead of it.
- Canagan set no fixed daily allowance; keep treats to a small share of the day's food and reduce the main meal accordingly.
- Tear larger pieces down for training so the total stays modest.
- Keep clean drinking water available.
- Reseal the bag after use and store it in a cool, dry place.
