Canagan Dental Free Run Turkey Dry Dog Food – 6kg
What separates this from the rest of the Canagan range is ProDen PlaqueOff, included at 2,500 mg/kg. It is a seaweed-derived supplement aimed at plaque, tartar and breath, and it is the reason the recipe carries a caution the others do not. The food underneath it is freshly prepared turkey at 33% with dried chicken at 18.7%.
The 6kg bag covers a 20kg dog for about a month on Canagan's maintenance rate. Sodium and iodine aside, it reads like the rest of the range: grain free, 33% protein, glucosamine and MSM at 850 mg/kg and chondroitin sulphate at 620 mg/kg, with parsley added to the botanical blend.
<>Performance & Benefits
- ProDen PlaqueOff at 2,500 mg/kg, aimed at plaque, tartar and breath.
- Freshly prepared free-run turkey 33%, with dried chicken at 18.7%.
- Crude protein 33%, crude fat 18%, at 394 kcal per 100g.
- Glucosamine and MSM at 850 mg/kg each — the highest in the Canagan dry dog range.
- Chondroitin sulphate 620 mg/kg, with parsley in the botanical blend.
- Grain free, with sweet potato, potato, peas and pea protein.
Suitable For
- Puppies and adults — Canagan label Dental For Puppies & Adults.
- Dogs that build tartar quickly, or whose breath is the complaint.
- Medium and large dogs eating a 6kg bag over a month.
- Feeding alongside brushing rather than instead of it.
- Not for a pregnant or lactating bitch, or a dog on thyroid treatment — see Care & Caution. Canagan Free Range Chicken or Country Game are the everyday alternatives.
- Small dogs get more mechanical benefit from the Small Breed Dental version, which uses the same recipe in a smaller kibble.
Feeding
- Canagan's adult guide, in grams a day for maintenance and for active dogs: 5kg 80g/100g, 10kg 120g/150g, 15kg 150g/190g, 20kg 200g/240g, 30kg 290g/350g, 40kg 370g/420g, 50kg 450g/540g.
- Puppy portions run by expected adult weight: 65–90g a day for a toy breed, 145–180g for 5–10kg, 215–255g for 10–25kg and 375–430g for 25–45kg, tapering back to adult rations from around a year.
- Change over across a week: a quarter Canagan on day one, half by day three, three quarters by day five, all of it by day seven.
- Cut the ration by 10% if the dog carries too much weight and raise it by 10% if it carries too little.
- A 6kg bag lasts roughly thirty days for a 20kg dog on maintenance.
- Feed it dry rather than soaked — softening the kibble removes the abrasive element.

Care & Caution
- Canagan state that Dental is not recommended for a dog that is pregnant, lactating, or undergoing thyroid treatment.
- The caution follows from ProDen PlaqueOff, which is seaweed-derived and therefore a source of iodine. Ask your vet before feeding it to a dog on thyroid medication.
- It is a food, not a treatment. A dog with established periodontal disease needs a dental examination first; kibble will not shift what is already there.
