Canagan Grass Fed Lamb Dry Dog Food – 12kg
Canagan's declared lamb content is 47.8% freshly prepared plus 8% dried, so 55.8% all told — the highest total meat inclusion of their dry dog range. This listing previously quoted 62%; that figure does not appear anywhere in Canagan's own composition and has been corrected here.
At 12kg this is the bulk bag, worth buying once the recipe has proved itself. A 30kg dog on maintenance eats 290g a day and gets about six weeks from it. The analysis is 31% crude protein, 16% crude fat, 382 kcal per 100g, with omega 3 at 0.96% from 2.7% salmon oil.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 55.8% lamb in total, the highest meat inclusion in Canagan's dry dog range.
- 31% crude protein, 16% crude fat, 382 kcal per 100g.
- Omega 3 at 0.96%, roughly double the level in Canagan's chicken recipes.
- DL-methionine added at 2,800 mg/kg — the only Canagan dry dog food with it.
- Grain free, with sweet potato, peas, potato protein and potato.
- Lamb gravy at 1% for palatability, and no artificial colours or preservatives.
Suitable For
- Large dogs and multi-dog homes that will use 12kg inside two months.
- Dogs that do better on red meat than on poultry or fish.
- Puppies as well as adults — Canagan label the recipe for all life stages.
- Not suitable as a strict elimination diet: dried egg at 0.5% and salmon oil at 2.7% are both present. Canagan Scottish Salmon, which uses fish alone, is the one to use for that.
- An older dog wanting joint support should note glucosamine here is 570 mg/kg; Canagan Light/Senior carries 1,440 mg/kg.
Feeding
- Adult maintenance under an hour of exercise: 290g at 30kg bodyweight, 370g at 40kg, 450g at 50kg.
- Active adults over an hour a day: 350g at 30kg, 420g at 40kg, 540g at 50kg.
- Puppies expected to reach 25–45kg: 375g at two to three months, peaking at 430g at eight to nine months.
- Transition over seven days rather than changing in a single meal.
- Cut the ration by 10% if the dog is overweight, raise it by 10% if it is not holding condition.
