Canagan Grass Fed Lamb Dry Dog Food – 6kg

Lamb is the single largest fresh ingredient in any Canagan dry dog food: 47.8% freshly prepared meadow-raised lamb, with a further 8% dried lamb on top. The analysis comes out at 31% crude protein, 16% crude fat and 382 kcal per 100g — a little leaner and a little less energy-dense than the chicken recipes.

It is also the only Canagan dry dog recipe to carry added DL-methionine, at 2,800 mg/kg. Salmon oil at 2.7% is the highest in the dry range and pushes omega 3 to 0.96%, about double the chicken foods. A 6kg bag covers a 20kg dog on maintenance for a month.

Performance & Benefits
  • 47.8% freshly prepared lamb plus 8% dried lamb — 55.8% lamb in total.
  • Crude protein 31%, crude fat 16%, crude fibre 3%, 382 kcal per 100g.
  • Salmon oil at 2.7%, giving omega 3 at 0.96% and omega 6 at 0.8%.
  • DL-methionine added at 2,800 mg/kg, which no other Canagan dry dog recipe carries.
  • Glucosamine and MSM at 570 mg/kg each with chondroitin sulphate at 410 mg/kg.
  • Grain free, with sweet potato, peas, potato protein and potato.

Suitable For
  • Dogs that have not got on with chicken or fish and need a different red meat.
  • Adults and puppies of any breed size.
  • Dogs on a 20kg frame or thereabouts, where a 6kg bag is roughly a month.
  • Not a true single-protein diet — dried egg at 0.5% and salmon oil at 2.7% are both in the composition, so it will not serve as a strict elimination trial. Canagan Scottish Salmon, whose animal protein is fish alone, is the better choice there.
  • Joint support is the lowest in the Canagan dry range; a stiff older dog is better on Canagan Light/Senior at 1,440 mg/kg glucosamine.
<>
Feeding
  • Adult maintenance under an hour of exercise: 120g at 10kg bodyweight, 150g at 15kg, 200g at 20kg, 290g at 30kg.
  • Active adults over an hour a day: 150g at 10kg, 190g at 15kg, 240g at 20kg, 350g at 30kg.
  • Puppies by expected adult weight: toy 1–5kg take 65–90g, small 5–10kg take 145–180g, medium 10–25kg take 215–255g.
  • Introduce over a week using Canagan's 25/50/75/100 steps.
  • Canagan give moisture as 8%, so feed by weight and keep water available.
