The 12kg sack is the working size of Carnilove's lamb recipe — the one you buy once a food has already suited the dog and you want to stop paying small-bag prices. Fresh lamb at 26% and lamb protein at 26%, with wild boar protein at 4% on top.

There is no poultry anywhere in the bag: the added fat is beef fat at 10% and the oil is salmon oil at 1%. For a dog that reacts to chicken, that matters more than any of the headline claims, and it is the reason this recipe keeps being recommended for itchy dogs.

Feeding

• Carnilove's daily amounts: 5kg 95g, 10kg 160g, 15kg 220g, 20kg 275g, 25kg 320g, 30kg 370g.
• Larger dogs: 40kg 460g, 50kg 540g, 60kg 620g, 70kg 700g, 80kg 775g, 90kg 850g.
• Split into one or two meals and adjust to condition and workload.
• Change over across seven to ten days, and keep fresh water available.
