Carnilove True Fresh Chicken Senior & Healthy Weight – 1.4kg

This is the weight-control recipe of the True Fresh dog range, built on 60% fresh chicken and carrying 9.5% crude fibre — roughly double anything else in the line. The fibre comes from lignocellulose and from psyllium husk and seeds at 0.5%, and it is what makes a reduced portion still feel like a meal.

Carnilove intend it for dogs of seven years and over, and for overweight adults of any age. Energy is held down to 3,310 kcal/kg with L-carnitine at 250mg/kg, and glucosamine, chondroitin and green-lipped mussel are in the recipe for ageing joints.

• Chicken meat and chicken fat are both in it, so it is no use to a chicken-sensitive dog — the Carnilove True Fresh Fish & Turkey 1.5kg is the chicken-free alternative.
• Not for puppies, working dogs or any dog that needs to put weight on — the Carnilove True Fresh Turkey 1.5kg is the standard adult recipe.

Feeding

• Carnilove's weight-reduction amounts: 5kg 80g a day, 10kg 130g, 15kg 180g, 20kg 220g, 25kg 250g, 30kg 290g.
• For maintenance at those same weights: 90g, 150g, 200g, 250g, 300g and 340g.
• Larger dogs, reduction then maintenance: 40kg 360g/420g, 50kg 430g/490g, 60kg 490g/560g, 70kg 550g/630g, 80kg 600g/700g, 90kg 660g/760g.
• Weigh the ration rather than scooping it, and reassess body condition monthly.
