Carr & Day & Martin Flygard Extra Strength Gel – 250ml

The Extra Strength Gel is Flygard chemistry without the spray. It carries 10% DEET in a concentrated gel that you squeeze out and spread by hand or cloth, which solves two problems at once: the horse that will not stand for an aerosol hiss, and the places on a head where nobody wants to be spraying.

Gel also goes exactly where you put it. Ears, the inside of a flap, around the eyes without going near them, a single sore patch on the belly — all of it is precise in a way a spray cannot be. It lasts twelve hours between applications, and Carr & Day & Martin note that a little goes a long way, so 250ml outlasts what the number suggests.

Performance & Benefits
  • 10% DEET in a concentrated gel for long-lasting protection.
  • Applies by hand or cloth — no spraying, no noise, no cloud of mist.
  • Precise application to ears, face and other awkward areas.
  • A little goes a long way, so the 250ml tube lasts well.
  • Holds for twelve hours between applications.
  • Carr & Day & Martin state that DEET is not on the FEI banned or controlled list and that there is no withdrawal period.
<>
Suitable For
  • Spray-nervous horses that will not tolerate a fly spray.
  • Ears, faces and other spots where a spray is unwise.
  • Targeted protection of a single irritated area rather than the whole horse.
  • Competition use — Carr & Day & Martin state no withdrawal period and that DEET is not on the FEI prohibited list.
  • Not the efficient choice for covering a whole horse daily — Flygard Extra Strength 500ml at 20% DEET is the spray for that.
<>
How to Use
  • Squirt the gel out and spread a thin layer onto the horse, or apply it with a cloth.
  • Apply directly to the area that needs protection from flies.
  • Re-apply every 12 hours, and more often after heavy rain or excessive sweating.
  • Wear gloves if you are prone to sensitive skin.
  • Avoid getting the gel in the eyes and mouth.
<>
Specification
  • 250ml of concentrated gel.
  • Active: DEET (N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) at 10%.
  • Half the DEET concentration of the Flygard Extra Strength spray, in a gel that stays put.
  • Carr & Day & Martin list the Extra Strength Gel in 250ml only.
  • Carr & Day & Martin state: no withdrawal period, and DEET is not on the banned or controlled list of prohibited ingredients published by the FEI.

Care & Caution
  • This is a biocidal product. Use biocides safely; always read the label and product information before use.
  • Avoid getting the gel in the eyes and mouth.
  • Wear gloves if you are prone to sensitive skin — this is applied by hand and 10% DEET is a real concentration.
  • Do not apply to broken skin, sores or open wounds.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
