A natural, high-fibre feed made from 100% pure alfalfa and nothing else. Pelleting concentrates the fibre into a compact form, which makes it a straightforward way of adding fibre and calcium to a ration without the bulk of a chaff — useful where bucket space or storage is limited.

Alfalfa is naturally rich in calcium, vitamins and minerals, with no added sugar and low starch. The pellets can be fed dry or soaked, which makes them particularly useful for older animals or any animal that finds chewing difficult. They also work well in a snack ball to encourage natural trickle feeding and reduce boredom in a stabled horse. Suitable across horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, goats and camelids.

Feeding

• Soak if required, mixing 1 part pellets with 3 parts water.
• Soaking times: approximately 15 minutes in hot water, or 2 hours in cold.
• One scoop is approximately 1.6kg of pellets.
• Feed alongside forage and a balancer or supplement for a complete diet.

Care & Caution

• Always soak for horses with poor dentition, and for any horse that bolts its feed, as dry pellets can present a choke risk.
• Alfalfa is high in calcium. Take advice before feeding large amounts to youngstock or alongside other high-calcium feeds.
