Digby & Fox Tweed Dog Collar – XS

Tweed on the outside, leather on the inside. The check is a woven polyester tweed rather than wool, which keeps it from felting or shrinking when a dog gets caught in the rain, and the full leather lining means the part that actually touches the neck is smooth rather than scratchy. The buckle and D-ring are brass, with a zinc die-cast Digby & Fox tag on the ring.

Size XS on Shires' standard collar guide covers a 26–34cm neck — a terrier, a whippet, a small spaniel or a puppy of a larger breed. It is a shooting-field sort of collar, and it does look the part next to a tweed coat, but the leather lining is what makes it comfortable enough to leave on.

Performance & Benefits
  • Woven tweed outer in 100% polyester, so it does not felt or shrink like wool.
  • Full leather lining against the neck rather than raw fabric edges.
  • Brass buckle and brass D-ring.
  • Zinc die-cast Digby & Fox tag on the ring.
  • Shires product code 6632, with matching pieces in the same tweed.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs with a 26–34cm neck, on Shires' standard collar guide.
  • Terriers, whippets, small spaniels and puppies of larger breeds.
  • Shoot days, country shows and anywhere a plain nylon collar looks wrong.
  • Dogs that react to nylon webbing but are fine with leather.
  • Not for a dog that swims or works wet ground daily — the leather lining will not take repeated soaking, and a webbing collar is the practical alternative.
<>
How to Use
  • Measure the neck with a soft tape where the collar will sit, and use Shires' standard collar chart.
  • Buckle it so two fingers slide flat between the collar and the neck.
  • Wipe the tweed with a damp cloth and let it dry naturally.
  • Do not put it in a washing machine — the leather lining will not survive it.
  • Treat the lining occasionally with a leather balsam, avoiding the tweed.

Care & Caution
  • The leather lining must not be soaked. No machine washing, no tumble drying, no drying on a radiator.
  • A buckle collar is not a breakaway. Take it off a dog left crated or unsupervised.
  • Do not use it as a tether point.
  • Check the stitching where the tweed meets the leather, and where the D-ring is anchored.
  • Replace it once the lining cracks or the tweed frays through at a buckle hole.
