Dodson & Horrell Fibre Fusion – 16kg

Fibre Fusion is a chaff-based blend of super fibres built on sainfoin, alfalfa and grass. Sainfoin is the unusual part — a high-quality legume forage that horses take to readily — and it is what lifts the palatability of a feed that otherwise reads as a sensible, low-starch fibre source.

The numbers are the point: 6.5% starch and 4.5% sugar against 8% oil and 21% fibre. That lets you put calories into a performance horse through oil and fermentable fibre rather than cereal, while ActiSaf live yeast, MOS and Fibre Plus Complex work on the hindgut doing the fermenting.

Performance & Benefits
  • Sainfoin, alfalfa and grass chaff, a combination Dodson & Horrell build the feed’s palatability around.
  • Starch at 6.5% and sugar at 4.5%, low enough to feed to a horse that heats up on cereals.
  • 8% oil, a genuinely high figure for a chaff, for condition and slow-release energy.
  • 21% crude fibre, with Fibre Plus Complex, ActiSaf yeast and MOS supporting fibre fermentation.
  • Lysine 5.4g/kg and methionine 1.4g/kg from a quality protein source.
  • Fed at up to 600g per 100kg bodyweight, so it works as a partial hard-feed replacer rather than just a chaff to slow eating.
<>
Suitable For
  • Performance horses needing calories without cereal starch.
  • Horses that become sharp or unsettled on a traditional mix.
  • Horses needing coat condition and weight from oil rather than grain.
  • Mixing with a balancer where a full compound feed is not wanted.
  • Not the right feed for a good doer needing calories restricted — at 8% oil this is a conditioning fibre, and Dodson & Horrell High Fibre Nuts suit that horse better.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed 100g to 600g per 100kg bodyweight per day — 500g to 3kg for a 500kg horse.
  • Do not exceed 600g per 100kg bodyweight per day in total.
  • Divide into at least two to three meals a day.
  • Keep forage intake at a minimum of 2kg per 100kg bodyweight per day, with free access where possible.
  • Fresh water at all times.
