Dodson & Horrell Sixteen Plus Cubes – 20kg

The cube version of the Sixteen Plus range, approved and fed by The Veteran Horse Society, for the older horse or pony that is starting to lose condition. At 13% protein, 15% fibre and 5% oil with lysine at 6g/kg, the calories are delivered through fibre and oil rather than cereal starch, which is what makes it workable for a Cushingoid horse.

Cubes rather than a muesli mix is a real difference in use, not just a preference: a cube cannot be sorted through and picked over, so a horse gets the full formulation rather than the bits it likes, and cubes dampen down into a soft mash more readily for a horse whose teeth are going. Glucosamine at 0.2% and MSM at 0.1% sit alongside the QLC antioxidant blend and Actisaf live yeast.

Performance & Benefits
  • High calorie, to hold weight on an ageing horse, at 13% protein and 5% oil.
  • Added L-lysine at 6g/kg supports muscle mass and top-line.
  • Actisaf live yeast supports digestive function and hindgut fermentation.
  • QLC plant-based antioxidants with vitamin E at 345mg/kg support immune function.
  • Glucosamine at 0.2% and MSM at 0.1% support joint health.
  • High fibre, high oil, low sugar and starch — suitable for Cushingoid horses.
  • A cube cannot be picked over, so a fussy veteran eats the whole formulation.
<>
Suitable For

  • Veteran horses, whether still in light work or retired.
  • Horses with reduced starch tolerance, including Cushingoid horses.
  • Horses with worn teeth, where the cubes are dampened into a mash.
  • Where a horse prefers a textured feed and will eat it without sorting, 16 Plus Mix is the muesli alternative.
