Equiglo Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet – 18kg Natural High-Fibre Horse & Pony Feed
Equiglo Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet – 18kg
British-grown, non-GM sugar beet with the sugar already extracted, dried and micronised into flakes that soak in ten minutes rather than overnight. The short soak is a genuine hygiene advantage as much as a convenience one: a bucket of traditional beet left standing for twenty-four hours in July starts fermenting long before it reaches the horse.
Because the molasses has been left out, this is a low-sugar, low-starch source of digestible fibre rather than a sugary feed, and the energy it releases is non-heating. It is also rich in calcium, which makes it a useful counterweight to straight cereals and bran, and it carries BETA's NOPS accreditation and BETA's assurance mark for horses prone to gastric ulcers.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Low in starch and sugar, suiting sensitive horses and those needing metabolic support.
- Non-heating, steady energy — useful for cutting starch in a hard-working horse's ration.
- Improves fermentation of structural fibre from hay in the hindgut.
- Acts as a prebiotic fibre supporting beneficial gut microbes.
- Rich in calcium, so it balances straight cereals and bran.
- Soaks in ten minutes, which is more hygienic than a 24-hour soak in hot weather.
- BETA NOPS scheme member, and carries BETA's EGUS assurance mark.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies prone to laminitis, needing a low-starch, low-sugar energy source.
- Veterans with poor dentition, and horses on poor-quality hay.
- Horses prone to gastric ulcers, where the BETA EGUS mark applies.
- Thin horses needing calm, non-heating condition gain.
- Not a balanced feed on its own — it supplies little in the way of vitamins and trace minerals, so pair it with a balancer.
Feeding
- Mix 1 part beet with 5 parts cold water by weight — 200g of beet takes 1 litre of water.
- Soak for approximately ten minutes before feeding.
- Feed according to bodyweight and workload alongside plenty of forage.
- Make up fresh for each feed and always provide clean, fresh water.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: non-GM, British-grown unmolassed micronised sugar beet flakes. 18kg.
- Equiglo publish no crude protein, fibre, sugar or energy percentages for this product, so none are stated here.
Care & Caution
- Never feed dry. Sugar beet swells substantially as it takes up water and can cause choke or colic if fed unsoaked.
- Soak fresh for every feed. A soaked bucket left standing in warm weather will ferment.
