Equimins Country Living Poultry Wound Spray – 250ml
A peck wound is two problems at once: an open graze, and a red mark that pulls the rest of the flock towards it. Equimins' spray answers both — an alcohol-based disinfectant with aloe vera for the skin, and methyl violet, which turns the area purple and takes the red out of the picture.
It stains. That is the whole mechanism, and it means gloves are not optional and neither are old clothes. Equimins supply it in a 250ml bottle.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Disinfectant spray for minor cuts, grazes and peck wounds.
- Contains aloe vera, which Equimins include for its soothing effect on damaged skin.
- Methyl violet dyes the treated area purple, masking the wound from other birds.
- Sprayed on, so there is no need to hold or press a wound to dress it.
- 250ml bottle — the size Equimins list.
Suitable For
- Chickens and other poultry with peck wounds, cuts, scrapes or bare sore patches.
- Flocks where pecking has started and one bird is being singled out.
- Keepers who want the disinfectant and the deterrent colour in one bottle.
- Not for a deep or gaping wound, which needs a vet rather than a spray.
How to Use
- Put gloves on first — the dye stains hands and clothing.
- Spray the affected area, making sure it reaches the skin if you are treating cuts or abrasions.
- Continue applying until the wound is dry and a scab has begun to form.
- Separate the bird temporarily if the flock keeps returning to the treated area.
Specification
- 250ml bottle. Barcode 5032509105998.
- Contains ethanol, aqua, aloe vera and methyl violet.
- Equimins publish no percentages for the ingredients, so none are stated here.
- 250ml is the only size Equimins list; the store title carries no size.
Care & Caution
- Wear gloves. Methyl violet stains skin, feathers and clothing and does not wash out.
- Alcohol-based, so keep it away from eyes, and expect it to sting on an open graze.
- Do not use it inside the beak, in the eyes or on a deep wound.
- Keep away from naked flame and out of reach of children.
- Equimins publish no egg withdrawal period for this product.
