Equine America's Mint Treats are a herbal treat built on oatfeed and dried grass rather than on sugar, with peppermint oil at 300mg per kilo as the flavouring. Sugar is declared at 4.8% and fibre at 22.6%, which puts them well below the sugar content of a typical molassed treat.

The 1kg bag is a sensible size for a tack room. Equine America set a firm ceiling of 100g a day for any horse or pony, so a bag lasts at least ten days even if you are being generous, and rather longer at a few treats a session. Equine America state the treats are BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited and suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.

Feeding

• Feed as needed. Equine America's stated maximum is 100g in one day for any horse or pony.
• At the 100g ceiling a 1kg bag lasts 10 days; at a few treats a day it lasts far longer.
• Feed by hand or scatter into the feed bucket.
• Treats sit on top of a balanced diet and do not replace any part of it.
